It is twelve o’clock. The friendly staff of the Russian consulate in Montreal responsible for issuing visas to stay in his country up without saying a word and hastily left the little cubicle that serves as his office.

All those waiting in the queue, sometimes for over an hour as my friend Francine who came from Terrebonne this morning, are let off and leave empty-handed return another day. Better luck next time …

PostHeaderIcon Les Americains Cuba

The Congress of the United States will discuss a proposal for legislation to allow Americans to visit Cuba, ending a ban on travel to the communist island 46 years old.

The draft law on “freedom of travel to Cuba” could therefore replace the current procedure is to request authorization from the Treasury Department power to spend money in Cuba. So far, this measure amounted to a de facto travel ban to Cuba.
